my resume

Welcome!

After a long career in marketing I made a life-changing decision to follow my dream of working with children. In 2012 I earned my Masters in Education with a concentration in Library Science, and graduated top of my class with a 4.0+ GPA at Arcadia University, and was named PSLA Outstanding Student Librarian.

Prior to graduating I feel very fortunate to have been placed in the tutelage of two amazing school librarians for my practicum: Judy
Schultheis of Erdenheim Elementary, and the renowned and respected edu-tech thought leader Dr. Joyce Valenza of Springfield Township High School. Dr. Valenza requested me as her student teacher after I’d spent several months volunteering in her library.

Upon graduating in 2012 I was hired as solo Teacher Librarian at Plymouth Meeting Friends School, a Pre-K through Grade 6 Quaker school in the Philadelphia suburbs. I was involved in a number of exciting initiatives there, which you can read about in my resume. In 2016 Computer Tech Teacher was added to my Teacher Librarian role, which allowed me to further integrate my passion for information and digital literacy into the dual curriculum I deliver. Following PMFS I was hired for my current position as Library and STEM Teacher in the Wissahickon School District. I teach both library lessons and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) curriculum in a K through Grade 5 elementary school of 525 students.

I'm currently a reviewer with the Southeastern Pennsylvania School Librarians Review Committee. We read and review hundreds of books annually as a public service to anyone searching for quality reads for kids. Click here to read some of my reviews on the blog I set up and co-managed as the former reviewer and co-coordinator for the PSLA Literature Review Committee.

"21st century skills are the ticket to economic upward mobility in the new economy” (Gewertz, 2007)...we need to teach students how to “work comfortably with people from other cultures, solve problems creatively, write and speak well, think in a multidisciplinary way, and evaluate information critically. And they need to be punctual, dependable, and industrious.”
